Policy: Non-Payment of Bills by Customers |
 |
Condition 13.2 of the General Conditions of Entitlement (part of the authorisation regime for public electronic communications networks and services under the Communications Act 2003) requires THUS to publish its policy on measures it may take following the non-payment of all or part of a bill to effect payment or disconnection, in respect of Publicly Available Telephone Services.
THUS provides publicly available telephone services under a variety of service-specific contracts, including conditions relating to timescales for payment of bills. If the Subscriber breaches those agreed terms, unless agreed otherwise within their contract, our policy on disconnection is as follows.
Following non-payment by a Subscriber, THUS will contact the Subscriber with either written notices, statements of account, telephone or electronic message on at least two occasions prior to issuing a written notice of suspension or termination of Service. The notice of suspension or termination will specify the time period prior to termination or disconnection.
In the event of services being terminated, THUS will continue to pursue outstanding balances via in-house collection agents, third party collection agents or via the appropriate legal process. For the avoidance of doubt, all written correspondence will be sent to the last known billing address.
In exceptional circumstances, such as suspected fraud, THUS reserves the right to immediately suspend the service pending investigation. Following such an event THUS will contact the Subscriber as soon as reasonably practicable.
