While many operators are still planning or building their next-generation network (NGN), THUS’ NGN became operational in 1999 and was largely completed by 2001. It is now comprised of 10,600km of fibre optic cable. With more than 190 points of presence throughout the country, our network spans all major towns and cities across the UK, allowing us to offer communication providers a single-supplier network solution. THUS has also invested in more than 15 metropolitan area networks (MANs) which are linked across the country by our NGN. These not only supplement our network points of presence (PoPs) but also provide cost-effective connectivity and aggregation within some of the UK’s major towns and cities.
This provides carriers with a high-performance infrastructure that is ideal for the converged delivery of delay-sensitive Voice over IP (VoIP), video and data applications between communication provider data centres/PoPs and third party customer locations. Services also benefit from features such as diverse routing to enhance reliability and leading reconvergence times of less than one second.
Our NGN offers rapid market entry with minimal CAPEX, low OPEX and opportunities to increase revenue and market share through value-added services. We can provide end-to-end network monitoring and a range of resilience options, and we offer tailored support packages that minimise risk and feature stringent service levels.
