Unified Communications in the Public Sector

Recent years have seen dramatic changes in communication technology with growing convergence between telecommunication, computing and media services, and implementation of technologies such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Third Generation Mobile (3G) and new alternative wireless technologies such as WiFi and WiMax.

Recognising these changes and challenges, THUS participated in the first Unified communication in the public sector conference. This conference looked at how the public sector can make best use of emerging technologies and applications to deliver better services internally, to workers out in the field and, ultimately, to the public.

Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) enables a mobile user to experience the same functionality and access to applications on their mobile device as they do on their fixed desktop in the office, and it allows mobile devices to function smoothly between fixed and mobile network infrastructures. FMC could transform the telecommunications industry over the next five years and analyst predictions suggest that 80% of service providers are planning to offer FMC services from mid 2008.

This event discussed the main issues around FMC through a combination of case studies and presentations from analysts and suppliers.

CMA Focus Day

THUS presented our on our Mobile services and exhibited at this Focus day 

This event examined the role of Unified Communications in building a communications-enabled business where the roadblocks associated with traditional communication are a thing of the past. Unified communications were discussed, from the infrastructure requirements right through to security and business resilience. Discussions took place on how VoIP and unified communications could be integrated to create a simple communications environment regardless of devices, as well as how to improve employee productivity and effectiveness and reduce cost and complexity.

We promoted our converged solutions and IP Exchange lines. 

At this exhibition THUS offered many technical solutions behind call centre operations to either fellow exhibitors and attendees who run their call centre operation in-house, as having experience in the Call Centre industry both in terms of being a previous supplier of Call Centre services and through major Call Centre customers.
