GWR Group
GWR Group PLC is one of the UK's leading commercial radio broadcasters owning Classic FM and more than 30
local FM stations across the country. They are the first radio broadcaster in the UK to multicast live
commercial audio broadcasts over MPLS. THUS provided a national IP network based on its Multi-Protocol
Label Switching (MPLS) platform.
This multicast technology is highly efficient in its use of network bandwidth - providing cost savings.
In addition, the ability to multicast audio across the network enables far greater broadcast flexibility
than in the past, allowing GWR to send multiple audio streams across the group.
This allows individual GWR stations to react dynamically to changing news and circumstances both on a
local and national level and provide their listeners with what they want to hear.
