Jessops
How Broadband from THUS helped one of Europe's largest photographic retailers roll out a network of the UK's
first in-store digital photo kiosks.
When Jessops decided to lead the UK market with the installation of some 90 in-store digital photo kiosks,
the company also identified the need for high-bandwidth communications between its stores to make the scheme
a reality. The kiosks are compatible with all forms of digital media - CDs, storage sticks and all makes of
digital camera cards - and give Jessops' customers an easy-to-use and reliable way to buy professionally-printed
digital photographs, without the time and cost of using their own printers.
The contract built on the existing relationship through which THUS provides Jessops with voice communications
and installed 90 broadband links. THUS broadband gives Jessops a cost-effective way of ensuring the stores
have the bandwidth they need to transmit consumers' digital photos between its European sites for processing.
Customers use the digital photo kiosks themselves, downloading digital pictures from their camera's memory
card, and selecting the size, quantity and finish of prints they want for themselves. The images are then
transmitted to a wholesale photofinishing laboratory and printed using the latest technology before being
returned to the Jessops store for collection by the customer.
