Co-location

THUS Co-location service delivers a secure and flexible server housing environment which is ideal for businesses where a highly available web operation or application access is mission-critical, but where the size or maturity of the business means that you cannot afford to tie up valuable space, facilities, staff and resource to keep your servers and platforms in house. Co-location offers your business a high-performance, safe alternative to keeping your platform in house, giving you a secure physical environment in which to keep your servers. The service frees you from the arduous investment in time and money of managing your own infrastructure.

THUS has a suite of Data Centres across the UK.

The Co-location service is ideally positioned for customers who are looking for a secure physical environment to host their servers and as part of a combined opportunity for IPVPN and Ethernet Wireline, i.e. customers who are looking for one supplier for these requirements.

The Co-location solution includes the following key service elements.

* Facility Services – the provision of space, power & cooling within our Data Centres.
* Internet Access & Bandwidth – connectivity to the global IP backbone.
* Hands & Eyes – key services from our on site engineering staff.

Facility Services

The core element of the Co-location service is the provision of space, power & cooling within one of the Data Centres.

The Customer can choose from the following options:-

* Cage – the customer is provided with a standard or bespoke designed cage with rack and power options designed to meet the exact requirements of the customer.

The following facilities and systems are used to support all Data Centres where Facility Services space is provided:-

* Redundant air conditioning system.
* Physical access to each Data Centre that is controlled, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
* Early fire detection system & fire suppression.

The Service includes the following:-

* Installation of the single cabinet or cage within one of our Data Centres.
* Installation and provision of a redundant power supply.
* Supply of electricity up to the capacity of the power circuit as ordered by the customer.
* Installation and provision of a redundant pair of power distribution bars to each single cabinet or rack, providing at least 8 IEC sockets, each supporting at least 10 A, per power distribution bar.
* Access by the customer at any time (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), subject to twenty four hours prior notice by the customer.

Additional Service options are available, including:-

* Installation and provision of additional power.
* Installation and provision of an additional wiring patch panel.

Internet Access

Internet Access provides connectivity between the customer’s Co-location solution and the public Internet, via the Data Centre infrastructure.

Internet Access provides:-

* Installation of the connection(s) from the customer’s Co-location solution to the Data Centre Infrastructure.
* Setup and maintenance of IP addresses and routing for the customer’s solution.
* Hosting and maintenance of domain names on THUS DNS servers.
